Going out to camping with the family is an
excellent way to get everyone to know each other on an
intimate level. But, it can be a very stressful time for
parents with lots of kids. If you have very young kids,
this can be even more of a problem. A camping trip with
the family is an experience that not many people forget.
To cherish those memories and prevent unfortunate things
from happening then you must plan your trip.
Here are a couple of things you need to
know before you set out for your family camping
trip:
1. Organize your equipment into two
categories. That is, camping equipments for adults and
kids camping equipment. Sleeping bags and tents should be
much bigger for adults than for kids. Pay special
attention on the type of hiking clothes you need to buy
for kids. Try to buy quality brand name clothes rather
than cheap generic clothes. Kids tend to more active and
run through bushes than adults, therefore kids camping
clothes would not last as long.
2. To make your kids more organized, pack
clothes for each day into a separate bag. When the kids
want to change clothes after a long day, your children
will know which item is clean and which one need to be
cleaned.
3. To prevent the kids from fighting one
another or get too bored, bring a toy or book from home.
A puzzle book or crosswords are an excellent way to calm
your kids.
4. Kids are often frightened of the dark,
especially when they are a foreign and strange place.
Each child should have a flashlight to make them feel
comfortable and have fun with night. They could also be
used for fun. For example, they can be used to make
shadow puppets within the tent and for ghost
stories.
5. Coleman Illumstick is great for kids
during the night. The stick will light up for around
twelve hours, long enough until daylight.
6. During camping trips, kids are more
unaware of dangers around the surrounding environment.
They tend to run around and have many scraps and
injuries. It is necessary to bring along first aid kit
with antibiotic cream, aspirin, pain killers,
anti-allergy medications, bandages and tape.
7. If you travel in a remote place, make
sure you have beacon or flare gun with you. Also, bring
along a whistle for each kid, just in case you can’t see
them or get lost.
8. Always have a plan if any kids get
lost. You also need to educate them how to build a
temporal shelter and how to get food and water. If you
don’t know much about this stuff, contact expert travel
