Easy Camping Food
When you walk back to camp
base and you’re very hungry and too tired too cook, the best
thing you can do for yourself is too have easy camping food.
Sometimes, it’s too much trouble in chopping meat, heating
up the stove and put the food ingredients into the pot or
pan. One of the best and easiest things to do is to open up
a freeze dried food package and then add hot water to it.
It’s quick and is tasty.
However, if you one of
those lucky people to have a RV, you have all the necessary
cooking utensils, pots, pan and stove at your quick
disposal. A lot of these RV have fridges in them which make
it even handier to store foods.
If you don’t have the
luxury of having a RV, then freeze dried food is your best
choice. There are different types of flavors and style to
choose from. Usually rice or macaroni and cheese are more
favorites. Another great thing about dried food is that you
don’t need to have a cooler to lug around and doesn’t go
rotten after a few days. Dried foods are lighter than any
other food because all of the water is taken out. Also,
because these foods are vacuum sealed, animals or insects
won’t be attracted to the food. You don’t want to eat any
nasty bugs.
Apart from that, do not
store any food in open spaces or where it can be easily
reached by animals. You don’t want a bear roaming and
opening up your meal box. Once an animal find food, more
animals will be attracted to it.
Another good and quick meal
you can eat while camping are nuts or beef jerky’s. It
doesn’t take much effort to open up a packet and you don’t
need boiling water to rehydrate it.
When buying freeze dried
food, try to buy good quality brands from camping stores.
They are usually more expensive than the supermarket
versions but it contains more vitamins and nutrients that
you will need. However, you can buy a good quality nuts and
beef jerky from any supermarket.
Aside from buying your own
food, you can make easy camping food by looking around your
surrounding environment for fruits or berries. Be sure that
the foods you are eating are not poisonous. So, always bring
a camping guide with you that suggest which plant, fruit or
herbs are edible. Sometimes these foods are tastier and
healthier for you than the things you buy at the
shops.
